Toyota FT-1 Concept Revealed In Detroit

Attendees of the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit may have found themselves looking for a Ferrari badge when they first laid eyes on the revolutionary FT-1 Concept, but this futuristically sleek sports car is a Toyota.

The design team was given one goal when tasked with creating the Toyota FT-1 Concept; to make a cool car that people have to drive, and they nailed it.  The curved architecture of an exotic sports car married with a surprising sense of muscle make the FT-1 a jaw-dropper.  Not to mention the power retractable rear spoiler and clear hood insert that creates a sightline to the FT-1 impressive engine.

Unfortunately, the FT-1 is a concept, but Toyota stresses that this is the direction that the Japanese automaker is heading, and we sure hope it’s true.

“Beyond its obvious five-alarm visual impact, FT-1 is symbolic of a new chapter for Toyota Global Design,” said Calty Design Research President, Kevin Hunter, in a press release.  “This provocative concept truly captures the passion, excitement, and energy of the Toyota we are evolving into…and embodies elements of the emotion and performance that Toyota will imprint upon future production designs.”

We hope to see a production model in our showroom very soon, but to learn more about the Toyota FT-1 Concept, visit us today at Wondries Toyota!
