Toyota Buys a Matrix for 4 Millionth Customer

The Toyota CPO Program reached its 4 millionth customer and purchased their car for them.

How would you like for Toyota to buy your next vehicle? That’s what happened to Michigan’s Jose Ortiz when he went to buy a 2010 Toyota Matrix.

Last month, when Ortiz purchased his new-to-him Toyota Matrix, he became the 4 millionth owner of a Toyota certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicle. This was more than just a cool bragging right for Ortiz; it was a historic event in the automotive world and for Toyota.

Never before has any automaker sold 4 million CPO vehicles. Until Toyota. Until now.

To celebrate the milestone, Toyota gave Ortiz a check for the amount of his now-famous Matrix and presented the Alpha House Interfaith Hospitality Network, a local non-profit, with a matching check.

The dealership where Ortiz purchased his car has supported the organization for many years.

“Driven by great teamwork, Toyota’s certified used vehicle program has been a tremendous success not only in terms of units sold, but also in building customer loyalty,” said Toyota Division’s group vice president and general manager, Bill Fay. “Toyota was the first manufacturer to have a certified used vehicle program and there is no better way to celebrate this milestone than to buy a Toyota certified for our 4 millionth customer. On behalf of Toyota, I’d like to thank Jose Ortiz for being part of the Toyota family.”
