Toyota recently unveiled its first-ever RAV4 Hybrid SUV at the New York Auto Show, which is the first vehicle to feature the automaker’s new, affordable Toyota Safety Sense technology.
Toyota Safety Sense is described as a “multi-feature, integrated safety package, anchored by automated pre-collision braking and offered at a price dramatically below comparable systems across the auto industry. “
Most automatic braking packages available today are only found in luxury vehicles (or high-end models of mainstream brands), and are priced at upwards of $2,000, or more. Additionally, buyers often must opt in to costly high-end packages that include other features (like leather seats) to get the automatic braking safety features.
Toyota has made it its mission to offer top-of-the-line safety features at an affordable price, on every model. The RAV4 Hybrid SUV marks a major milestone for Toyota, as its new TSS technology is unveiled for the first time.
“Taking high-level driver assist to the next level, the safety packages will be offered as a very-low-cost option and will be systematically introduced across nearly all U.S. Toyota and Lexus models and trim levels, top-to-bottom, by the end of 2017,” said Jim Lentz, President and CEO Toyota Motor North America in a statement. “Pushing these systems across our lineup, as quickly as possible, can help protect people in the event of a crash. More importantly it will help prevent some crashes from ever happening in the first place.”
Toyota Safety Sense will be available starting at about $300 for compact vehicles, and from $500 for mid-size and premium vehicles. Stop by Wondries Toyota today to learn more about Toyota’s available advanced safety features!
