Deciding on a New Year’s resolution is one thing, but managing to achieve your goal is another. Many people give up shortly after the New Year due to a lack of motivation, time, or other obstacles. Here are a few things you can do to stay motivated to keep your New Year’s resolution.

  • Choose Wisely – There’s nothing wrong with ambition, but setting a resolution that’s too ambitious could become too challenging and lead to discouragement/failure. Make sure to choose your New Year’s resolution wisely. Pick something you have the time and resources to achieve, otherwise you could find yourself falling short.
  • Talk – Talking about your goal is one of the best ways to motivate yourself to keep it. Talk to yourself, a friend, a family member, your dog, a stray cat, the pigeons in the city square, whatever works best for you. Keeping your goal on your mind will ultimately ensure you don’t simply forget about it.
  • Seek Help – There’s nothing wrong with seeking help or advice when attempting to achieve your New Year’s resolution. Whether you want to quit smoking, drive safer, or lose weight, asking for help is just fine.
