In hockey, when you score three goals in a single game, it’s called a hat trick. It’s unclear if journalists and judges were throwing their hats in the direction of Toyota during the 2018 Texas Auto Writers Association’s (TAWA) Texas Auto Roundup earlier this month, but it certainly would have been warranted.
Three Toyota Vehicles
Three Toyota vehicles took the top spots in their respective segments at the 2018 TAWA Texas Auto Roundup in April: the 2019 Toyota Avalon was named best full-size car, the 2019 Corolla Hatchback was named the best compact car, and the 2018 Toyota Camry was named best mid-size car. In addition to this trio of trophies, Toyota scored a Best New Interior award for the luxurious, sophisticated, and intelligent Avalon.
How Awards Are Determined
The prestigious awards are determined by approximately 50 TAWA journalists who this year tested more than 45 vehicles based on five criteria: exterior, interior, performance, value, and personal appeal.
Compelling New Vehicles
“To have the new Avalon, Corolla Hatchback, and Camry recognized as the best of Texas by TAWA is truly an honor,” said Lisa Materazzo, vice president of Vehicle Marketing and Communications, Toyota. “These three compelling new products continue to show our commitment to passenger cars, our dealers, and our guests.”
The 2019 Toyota Avalon and Corolla Hatchback are both set to arrive later this summer, and the 2018 Toyota Camry is available to test-drive at Wondries Toyota.
